MIRROR, MIRROR, ON THE WALL

Description: Place the students in pairs and have them mirror each other's movements. One will be the leader, and the other will have to do exactly what the leader is doing while the music plays. When the music stops, the other person becomes the leader.

Layer 1:
  • have the pairs pick a spot in the playing area that is their own
  • do the mirroring in a static position while the students face each other

Layer 2:
  • include movement to the mirroring, where the leader can move side to side, front and back, and the follower has to mirror that movement as well

Progressions:
  • add an object, such as a ball, that could be used by the leader
  • make the students move to the beat of the music

Safety:
  • students should only perform movements that everyone can do
  • pairs must be aware of other groups when moving while mirroring
